Offered is an interesting children's book that is 101 years old--Story Plays for Little Children. It gives us a good window into what type of activities were encouraged for young children before video games and cell phones. The 89 pages are full of "music, finger plays and rhythms." The book was authored by Mary Leora Hull and Sarah Elizabeth Palmer. It was published in April 1917 by Lothrop, Lee and Shepard. It has graphics of finger plays "suggestive rather than prescriptive." It claims to "combine the beginnings of two arts, drama and music." Contents include songs and plays for Animals, Tradesmen, the Knights, and Children From Many Lands. The book is 7 3/4 x 9 1/2 x 3/4. It has a green cloth over board for cover with illustrations of children and is in 2 color printing. It is in good vintage shape, but please note--the back inside cover has water stains, there are some pencil instructions written on some of the pages. Original listing price $12 Item 5008a Lot 4/1/8
