SALE! 10% OFF! Offered is a vintage coat that features virtually any hallmark of the 1960's that one wants to name. There are some issues with the coat which we will mention later in the description. The color of what we think is a fabric blend with perhaps some wool is a winter white--an oyster tone. The sole exception is the faux fur leopard collar. We think this a fur--we know that it was not uncommon to dye calf skin to resemble the leopard's markings. Leopard prints were very popular in the late '50's, early '60's. This collar becomes cowl style when it is hooked at the throat with the large hook and eye. Three huuuuge (2") fabric covered buttons are the only means of closure down the front. The 3/4 length (another favorite of the time period) sleeves deserve special mention--they are dolman style and feature tailored over stitching off the shoulder. The design is almost the opposite of swing where the coat is wider at the bottom. In this case, the coat is meant to give a wide berth, especially through the pleated shoulders at the back and chest. Note how it slims slightly toward the hem. The coat is lined in a cream tone lining. The coat carries several labels: Maurice Rothschild and Company Townley; Tailored by Brittany Coats of Distinction; and a union made label. It does not carry a content label nor the size. Guessing the size is difficult because of the wide shoulder and chest area. These are the measurements we were able to complete: 4" wide collar; 20 1/2" sleeve from the shoulder; 19" across the front of the chest; 45" waist. This has been cleaned--we found the tags still attached. We can confirm there are no stains BUT PLEASE NOTE: this coat has several areas where the fabric is worn away in small dot shaped areas. We have included pics of one area for example. Upon close examination, these are notable. From a distance, they aren't seen. There are 6-10 separate areas, most consisting of a single dot. There may be others we did not locate. This item is heavy, be prepared for shipping costs reflecting this. Original listing price $55 Item 4717a
