Although not an antique set, it makes a pretty presentation that assures that someday it will be valued as a treasured heirloom. The design is blackberries in deep purple contrasting with Virginia roses in pink and white with green leaves providing balance. The cups are demitasse size. Blackberries appear on the inside bottom of the cup as a surprise as one finishes her coffee. These are marked with the artist's name and the year 1996. The artist is D. Ciani. The coffee pot is 8 1/2" tall at the spout; 7 1/4" wide including the spout and handle with 3 7/8" base. The lid has a gilded handle and is 2 1/8" tall and 2 5/8" opening. It adds the overall height of the pot to 10 1/4". The saucers are 4 1/8" in diameter. The cups are 2 1/2" tall and 1 5/8" at the base with 2 5/8" lip including the handle. This china is heavy--it is more similar to ironstone in weight than to bone china. That would be another indication of its relative recent vintage. We found no cracks, no fractures.
