Offered is an item that will require a little bit more explanation. This is a hat pin from the Edwardian or Victorian era. It is 8 3/4" long which indicates it was used in the incredibly large hats from that time period. Here is another clue as to its age--its motif is a swastika. The swastika design -before the late '30's- was a symbol of good luck. In this example, the swastika appears at the top of the oval shaped head. The mount is in filigree. The head measures 1 x 1/2 x 3/4". The total length including the long pin is 8 3/4". We think the metal, which has a gold tone, is probably brass. There are no markings.
