SALE! 20% OFF! Offered is a stunning 1950 or early 1960 style cocktail dress designed by Mollie Parnis. In satin, it is a neutral shade of green which we have decided is "sage". The style hits all the mid-century hallmarks. We are not surprised as research shows Mollie Parnis was a well-known designer from the 1930's to the 1970's. Her designs were often seen as Mad Men inspiration. We found one photo showing Joan Harris (Christina Hendricks) from Mad Men wearing a dress not dissimilar to the one we are offering. She was also known for dressing First Ladies. This one has a scoop neck at the back, but squared and tilted left at the front. At the left side two demure self fabric bows add interest. The sleeves are 3/4 length with 2 pleats. The skirt is lavishly full, a Parnis trademark for the '50's/'60's. It has a self fabric belt. We could not find a label inside the dress, but the belt, which clearly belongs to the dress, is stamped Mollie Parnis 12 1887. We are not sure if the "12" is a reference to the size. Note the following measurements: 34" bust; 15" across back; 19" sleeves; 21" metal zipper; 28" waist; 16" shoulder to waist; 30" waist to 4" hem. The belt is 1" wide and 25" to shortest hole and 27" to the longest with 30 3/4" overall length. This is in good vintage condition but PLEASE NOTE: we have several less than pea size stains. They are placed at above the elbow left sleeve; at the side seam above the waist on the right side and one at the fold at the front left breast (we almost missed this one because of the fold). Also, on the upper chest of the left side, we felt there is a small snag. In the pics we have placed a brooch covering this to show that it could be hidden and also to show what we think may have been the cause. The next picture shows it without the brooch (brooch not included). This item has not been cleaned--there is no odor. Original listing price $100 Item 2118a
