LAST CALL! 20% OFF! Offered is a near on to perfect 1950 era prom dress. This one is truly exceptional. The color we will term a muted blue turquoise for the tulle and a robin egg blue for the satin--shades which will complement any skin tone. It is composed of yards and yards of tulle and satin. Description: the bodice is strapless except for tulle bands that pull up from the bust to form a halter at the back of the neck. The halter is closed by 2 snaps. The bust is ruffled tulle followed by wide satin cummerbund. This is a pretty enough picture, but we think the highlight of the dress is the skirt. It is resplendently full in tulle. Attention is drawn to the 5 bands of satin ribbon that form a "V" on the skirt. This banding is edged with tulle ruffles. There is a second tulle underskirt and then a satin one. It is closed on the side with a 13" metal zipper. The bodice has stays. CAUTION: there is no label in the dress to identify maker or size, so the following measurements are important. We would deem this a size XS as we were not able to close the zipper from the waist up on our model, which is about a size 6-8. In addition, the original owner must have been a tiny thing as there are hooks and eyes to the side of the zipper to further bring in the dimensions another 1/2". These of course, can be removed. OK--It is 9 1/4" from nape of neck to the start of the squared back; 34 1/2" waist to hem, 10 1/2" bodice to waist; 31" bust measured off the model and on the inside to avoid bust ruffles; 29" waist. This dress is in very good vintage condition, we found no holes no stains. In our experience, tulle prom dresses ship best when rolled. Steaming is effective in returning to shape. Item 13147a
