Offered is a handsome, vintage office style dress by Chester Weinberg. It carries a label designated as the 1960 era label according to an internet search. We were surprised it was styled then because this classic design holds its fashion sense today. The bio on Weinberg indicates fabric choice set the tone for all his designs. This is certainly true in this case. The short sleeve bodice of the dress is in an almost burlap texture. It is a linen tone with black flecks which gives an impression of fog gray. The skirt is in a nubby texture in charcoal. It has front pleats and slash pockets. The charcoal tone accents a band around the rounded neckline; the banded neckline also appears to be a feature Weinberg returned to repeatedly. The wide, curved belt in the charcoal fabric has a magnificent stamped, pewter-like belt buckle. We have no label indicating fabric content. The only other hints are that this is a size 12 and is union made. Details: Belt: 3" wide by 38 3/4"; buckle 3 1/4 x 4". Dress: 7" short sleeves; 32" waist; 42" shoulder to hem; 37" bust; 40" hip; 22" back zipper. This is in very good vintage condition, but Please Note the following: we found no stains and no tears. We found a button in a paper envelope, but not sure where it goes as there is only one. We think it probably was to replace two buttons that were at the tip of the darts that come up from the waist toward the bust. The label is stained. We have not cleaned this, there is no odor.
