Antique Brass Head Doll in an Antique Wool Dress
22" Antique Brass Head Doll in an Antique Wool Dress. Happy smiling girl with beautiful brown glass paperweight eyes. She has an open mouth with four teeth and deeply molded hair curls. Her head is made of all brass so she has some dents. Most metal head dolls were made of tin or half tin half brass. Brass is a softer metal so it dents more easy. She has an old cloth body probably made for her when she was new. Many metal heads were sold separately to either replace a bisque head on a doll or bodies were made for them. Her body is all cloth with her arms also made of cloth like a rag doll. She wears an old light green wool dress that looks to have been made for her as it fits perfectly. It is trimmed in old silk and lace. It is in wonderful condition with no moth holes or stains. It closes in the back with old brass hook and eye closures. She wears a fancy eyelet slip and old black stockings. Doll has some dents on her face and back of head but her paint is original which is always nice. Her shoulder plate is very nice as it was probably covered most of the time. Her body has soiling but is firm and all intact. Marks: D.R.G.M. Germany on front plate. The letters stand for Deutches Reichs Gebrauchs Muster which means it is a registered design or patent. Circa early 1900's. Charming brass head girl in a wonderful old dress.
