A fine harbor scene with boats by American artist Emile Albert Gruppe (1896-1978). Gruppe was born in Rochester, NY, and went on to become a renowned New England landscape and marine painter, best known for his vigorous portrayals of the harbors and houses of Gloucester, Massachusetts. Oil on canvas, signed lower left, inscribed on verso stretcher “Morning Gloucester” and housed in splendid signed carved giltwood frame by J. Gahan III.
