A scarce and very rare example of a hand-scrimshawed powder horn with a map of the Hudson River above Albany, New York including the Mohawk River, Niagara region, and Lake Ontario in New York Province with all the military forts shown. Dates to circa 1757-1760, with brass measuring spout probably added around the War of 1812. Very good overall condition, with great patina, some discoloration in spots, a few dents and dings on the brass hardware. A rare centerpiece of any early Colonial American or French & Indian War military collection! Dimensions: Approximately 10 ¼” long x 2 ½” diameter. Ref: 242
