A fine New England townscape painting by American artist Carl Thorp (1912-1989). Thorp was born in Lubbock, TX, studied at the Academy of Fine Art in San Diego with Maurice Braun and Alfred Mitchell. He was a member of the Society of Western Artists and the Northern California Artist Association. He spent summers painting in Rockport, Massachusetts. Oil on masonite, signed lower right, signed and dated on verso, “Marblehead, Mass, Main St, Carl Thorp, 1960,” and housed in a new molded giltwood frame.
