A fine example of a walnut transitional slant front desk, circa late 18th century, with compartmentalized interior, detailed decoration above the cubbies, a central prospect door with hidden interior drawers, and clean writing surface, over a lower case with four graduated drawers featuring punched brass oval pulls, over a nicely shaped skirt, all supported by front French splayed feet. Good overall condition, with some losses in the top drawer, minor staining along the top, minor water damage in lower drawer, a small later electrical wire cutout on the back, and other imperfections and wear commensurate with age and use.
