A fine example of a miniature three dimensional mounted wax profile of a gentleman on slate, mounted under convex glass on an ebonized panel with craquelure, including a decorative floral brass hanger. Appears to have an indiscernible signature and dated 1826(?) below the figure. Although many of these were massed produced in the period, this one appears to be an actual portrait. Very good overall condition, with some edge losses and overall craquelure on the panel. Dimensions: The oval measures approximately 4” H x 3 ¼” W; Overall 6 ¼” H x 5 ½” W. Ref: 184
