A fine hand carved and painted wall carving of a humpback whale by North Conway, NH artist Dave Newcomer (20th c). Dave is known for his carvings of a variety of fish and sea creatures, most from raw materials and mill slabs from around New England, including marlin, tuna, bluefish, whales, trout, redfish, snook, and mackerel. Much of his work is inspired from conversations around the waterfront. This nicely detailed whale carving is signed on verso, and includes a custom tag from the artist.
