A beautiful pair of Chinese mountain scene watercolor paintings on silk, framed under glass and housed in carved Asian decorative frames, with a verso label on one which reads “Original Watercolor, Chinese Mountain Scenic, by Margrethe, Styled and Framed for John Wanamaker, Philadelphia, PA”. These unsigned silk paintings are in very good condition, with minor water spot discolorations (mostly along the base) and fade, probably dating to the early 20th century. Wanamaker was one of the first large department stores in Philadelphia (and one of the first in the U.S.) around the turn of the 20th century. Dimensions: 30” H x 26” W, actual; 33 ¾” H x 29 ½” W, framed. Ref:174
