A colorful detailed still life oil painting by contemporary artist Mary Phillips (20th/21st century). Phillips lives in New Boston, New Hampshire and is an artist who works in a Renaissance style of oil painting. Her works evolve from conception of composition through initial value study drawings. The underpainting on canvas or linen is then produced, completed with final oil color and glazing. Her works consist largely of figures and portraits, as well as still life and landscape paintings, and she has exhibited her work at many New England exhibitions including the President’s Gallery at the Guild of Boston Artists Regional Painting Competition. Oil on canvas, monogrammed lower left, titled on verso stretcher “Flowers With Jewelry in a Salt Cellar,” and housed in a scroll decorated giltwood frame.
