A nice pencil drawing by Charles Paul Gruppe, signed by his son, Karl Gruppe. Canadian / American artist Charles Paul Gruppe (1860-1940) was born in Picton, Canada and was mostly a self-taught artist, although he did study in Holland. He became known for his impressionist marine, landscape, and genre paintings and should not be confused with his other son, artist Emile Gruppe, who painted many well known New England scenes. This pencil drawing is signed lower right and inscribed “By My Father Charles P. Gruppe, Karl H. Gruppe”, matted and framed under glass in a hand made giltwood frame. Dimensions: 15” H x 17” W, actual; 16” H x 18” W, framed.
