A beautifully detailed still life with fruits, plants, and a whelk seashell by Italian/American artist Luigi Lucioni (1900-1988). Lucioni was born in Malnate, Italy and emigrated with his parents to New York, splitting his time between New York and Vermont, where he became very well known for his still life paintings with heightened attention to detail, as well as landscape and portrait paintings. Oil on canvas, signed and dated 1956 lower left, titled on front plaque and verso partial exhibition label “Dominant Colors,” and housed in a rustic molded wooden frame with white inset. Dimensions: 20” H x 24” W, actual; 28” H x 32” W, framed.
