A fine impressionist still life with tulips and irises in a stoneware vase on a table by American artist Arthur Woelfle (1873-1936). Woelfle was born in Trenton, New Jersey, studied art at the Brooklyn Institute, National Academy of Design, and the Art Students League. He later studied in Paris and at the Munich Academy, and eventually holding several teaching positions around PA, NJ, and NY, as well as exhibiting in numerous art shows and associations. He became well known for his portraits, still lifes, landscapes, and mural paintings. Oil on canvas, signed lower left, inscribed “Studio Guild NY, 1925” on verso, and housed in a decorative giltwood frame with linen lined insert.
