This nicely painted still life with a stoneware jug, book, and apples on a table was painted by Italian artist Giovanni Bragolin (aka Franchot Seville, Angelo (Giovanni) Bragolin, J. Bragolin, and Bragolin) (1911-1981). The artist, born Bruno Amadio in Venice, Italy, was an academically trained painter and worked in post war Venice as a painter and restorer, most widely known for his group of child portraits called “The Crying Boys”. Oil on canvas, signed upper right “J. Bragolin” and housed in a decorative giltwood frame. Dimensions: 28 in H x 40.25 in W, actual; 34.25 in H x 46 in W, framed.
