A fine oil painting of an angel by Chinese / American artist Tyrus Yu Wong (1910-2016). Wong was born in Canton, China and emigrated to the US with his father at age 9, attended the Otis Art Institute, and eventually found a career drawing set designs and storyboards for several movies to being a Disney inspirational sketch artist, where his lush pastels served as inspiration for Bambi (1942). Later, he went on to Warner Brothers as film production illustrator (1942-1968). He was also one of the first fine artists to apply his talent to the designing of Christmas cards. Oil on canvasboard , signed lower right, housed in a linen lined mat and polychrome molded wooden frame. This original painting inspired a Christmas greeting card, and a copy of the greeting card proof is included.
