A superb piece of paint decorated Americana with a fall front, opening to a five fitted drawer salmon painted interior, over four graduated dovetailed drawers, punched brass pulls, and a shaped apron, all supported by carved bracket feet. The entire piece features umber grain painting in a cross and scaling pattern on a subtle salmon background. Inscribed on verso “George Pierce, Manlius, NY” and dates to the early 19th century. Provenance: Madeleine Killeen and David Zabriskie, NY, contents of a lifetime collection “Brook Crossing,” South Pomfret, VT. A great piece of Folk Art country painted furniture! Very good overall condition, with hinge and lock repairs and restorations, paint losses, foot cracks and repairs, center apron loss, brass pull dents and overall expected wear from age and use. The top fall front shows a slight warping. Dimensions: 48" h x 36" w x 19 1/2" d.
