This abstract modernist canvas and wood construction was created by Hungarian American artist Anton Vizy (1937-2016). Vizy was born in Osca, Hungary, graduated with a degree in Fine Arts from the Vienna Arts Academy in Austria, and came to the United States as a refugee fleeing the Hungarian Revolution in 1956. He was a fine artist for most of his life, exhibiting geometric abstract paintings and constructions in New Haven, New York, Boston, and Cambridge. He became a US citizen in 1970 and was passionate about his art and the New England Patriots.
This abstract geometric construction of canvas and wood is painted white, titled on verso “Studie for Little Cross, for the last 7 Words on the Cross,” and also inscribed “to thank for all the help I got - to go on - in this very trying year (1982) L.B.- Anton, Dec ‘82, Boston, Anton Vizy”.
