This colorful abstract oil painting was done by contemporary artist Christopher Myott. Myott lives and works in southern New Hampshire. In 2005, Myott received a BS in studio arts at Chester College, located near Manchester, NH, and he spent two years living and working in Boston. After an apprenticeship at Boston’s Institute of Contemporary Art, Myott returned in 2007 to the Monadnock region of New Hampshire where he currently works out of his three-story barn studio, dedicated entirely to making paintings, furniture and rebuilding vintage motorcycles. His paintings often depict stark interiors and geometric landscapes composed around still lifes. The color choices and applied wax patina serve to highlight the use of line and brushwork. Myott’s work has been featured in Best of Boston, Iron and Air, Yankee and other publications. His work can also be found in the permanent collection at Southern New Hampshire University as well as private collections across the United States and Europe. Myott’s roster of group and solo exhibitions includes Stel’s (Boston, MA), Sharon Arts Gallery (Peterborough, NH), New Hampshire Regional Art Auction (Jaffrey, NH), Jaffrey Civic Center (Jaffrey, NH) and Wadleigh Exhibit Area (Chester, NH).
