An exceptional winter landscape of maple sugaring in Vermont with a pair of oxen painted by American artist Aldro Thompson Hibbard (1886-1972). Hibbard was born in Falmouth, Massachusetts and later became one of the founders of the Rockport Art Colony, living on Cape Ann in Massachusetts and summering in Jamaica, Vermont. He became very well-known for his New England snow scenes and coastline paintings. Oil on canvas, signed lower right, with a Pierce Galleries, Hingham, MA label on verso, and housed in a complimenting carved giltwood frame. Dimensions: 30 in H x 40.25 in W, actual; 34 in H x 44 in W, framed. Provenance: Acquired from a North Carolina private collection.
