A good example of a transitional mahogany swell front chest with conforming top, four graduated cockbeaded drawers with richly figured crotch mahogany veneered fronts, all supported tall carved bracket feet. The brasses have probably been replaced. Dates to the late 18th or early 19th century. Good overall condition, with some surface restorations, a few cockbeading losses, old foot repairs, and other minor imperfections, losses, shrinkage cracks, and expected wear from age and use.
