A fine landscape painted by American artist Albert Lorey Groll (1866-1952). Born in New York City, he spent most of his student years in London, England, and Munich, Germany. He studied under Nickolaus Gysis and Ludwig Von Loefftz.Referred to as “America’s sky painter,” Albert Lorey Groll was said to have been one of the first artists to capture the grandeur of the western plains. His cloud renderings of the desert are his most popular paintings. Oil on panel, signed lower left, inscribed title on verso “The Storm Cloud, Painted Near Carson City, Nevada,” housed under glass in a giltwood frame.
