This bold colorful impressionist landscape of Mount Monadnock in New Hampshire was painted by American artist John Sharman (1879-1971). Sharman was an active artist in Massachusetts, becoming known for his landscape, figure, and still life paintings. Oil on panel, signed lower right, title inscribed on verso in graphite “Monadnock from Half Way House,” and housed in a molded giltwood frame. The verso artist inscription continues “Dear Sara- You must have looked upon this scene many times. This is how it appeared to me - one day.” Dimensions: 18” h x 24” w, actual; 22 ½” h x 28 ½” w, framed.
