A fine example of a walnut two part secretary desk, the top case with molded and carved cornice over two arched paneled doors, opening to reveal several shelves with carved dividers, over a lower case with slant top writing surface opening to a compartmentalized interior with eight shaped fitted drawers and eight open valanced cubbies, a center prospect door opening to a secret pull out with three hidden small compartments behind it. Below the writing surface are four graduated long drawers, all supported by four carved bracket feet. 18th century, probably Pennsylvania in origin. Very good overall condition, with some restorations, shrinkage cracks, other imperfections and expected wear from age and use.. Dimensions: 88” h x 40” w x 22” d.
