Exceptional Girandole Mirror with Rare Eagle & Serpent Motif

An exceptional gilt girandole mirror with convex glass, with carved eagle finial and a winged serpent or snake surrounding a gold sphere adorning the base, a ebonized reeded interior liner along with small gilt spherules lining the interior of the frame. Probably American, dating to the early 19th century. Very good overall condition, with minor repairs and restorations, gilt edge losses, touch ups, other imperfections, and expected wear from age and use. Dimensions: 53" h x 30 1/2" w x 7" d.
