A rare colorful collection of 39 Hope of a Nation poster series educational posters, distributed by C.R. Jackson Co of Kansas City, MO. The Hope of a Nation series was a character series with weekly posters for use in classrooms. The series included posters on ambition, cheerfulness, health, honesty, industry, leadership, perseverance, service, and other character traits. The original designs were done by lithograph, silkscreen, and woodcut and then reproduced. Each piece is titled and numbered, and shows copyright dates of 1929 and 1937. This particular collection does not include poster No. 10 and No. 20, but does include a duplicate No. 40. Over 2,000 posters were produced under the Federal Arts Project (FAP), part of the Works Progress Administration (WPA), from 1936 to 1943 (the original WPA was renamed the Work Projects Administration in 1939). This collection is in excellent overall condition with bright colors intact and a few minor imperfections. Dimensions: Each measure 18 1/2" h x 12 1/2" w and the set comes with a protective folding sleeve.
