A nicely done late 19th or early 20th century American School panoramic oil painting of Nantucket, Massachusetts, featuring Nantucket Harbor and Hotel circa 1880’s , unsigned, and housed in a beautiful giltwood frame. The hotel “The Nantucket” was originally built in 1832 and in 1905 it was moved across the harbor where it is located today on north Beach Street, beautifully restored. The two passenger side-wheeler steam boats are “The Nantucket” and “The Adirondack”. This scene was painted from the elevated Orange Street looking north, and many of the houses in this painting are now gone. Oil on canvas, unsigned, and housed in a beautiful giltwood frame. A copy of a vintage photo is also added to see the actual view of the harbor around that time period. Dimensions: 9” h x 27” w, actual; 17” h x 35” w, framed.
