A well crafted Aesthetic period ebonized bentwood armchair of pleasing proportion with caned seat and back, scroll carved decoration, turned crest rail, and demilune bentwood stretchers. A freshly upholstered cushion has been added to accent the piece. Very good overall condition, with some old breaks and repairs, imperfections, and expected wear from age and use. Unsigned, this piece may have been made by J & J Kohn circa 1880. Dimensions: 41" h x 26" w x 25" d, with seat height of 20" (18 3/4" h without pad).
