Chauncey Foster Ryder Landscape Oil Painting - possibly Mount Monadnock from Chesterfield, NH
This wonderful impressionist landscape oil painting possibly of Mount Monadnock from Chesterfield, New Hampshire was painted by American artist Chauncey Foster Ryder (1868-1949). Ryder grew up in New Haven, Connecticut, studied in Chicago & Paris, eventually setting in New York City, with a summer home in Wilton, New Hampshire. He became well known as an impressionist and tonalist painter of landscapes. Oil on canvas, signed lower left,and housed in a gilt Newcomb-Macklin frame. Dimensions: 20" h x 24" w, actual; 24 3/8" h x 38 3/8" w, framed.
