A fine limited edition etching of a Vermont country scene with birch trees by Italian/American artist Luigi Lucioni (1900-1988). Lucioni was born in Malnate, Italy and emigrated with his parents to New York, splitting his time between New York and Vermont, where he became very well known for his still life paintings with heightened attention to detail, as well as landscape and portrait paintings. This etching is pencil signed and dated 49 lower right, and titled on verso “Whites and Shadows” on a small Lucioni biography label, matted and framed under glass in a simple wooden frame. An additional inscribed label is attached with additional location information and reads “Whites and Shadows is a view from the Ekwanok Country Club of Mt. Equinox w/ the First Congregational Church steeple in Manchester village in the background, dated 1949”.
