A splendid pair of prints by German artist Conrad Martin Metz( 1749-1832) in 1810, after Michelangelo, published in Rome. These are two of fifteen etched plates after Michelangelo's Last Judgement in the Sistine Chapel. In 1801, Metz traveled from London to Rome to spend the last 26 years of his life in the European center of art. Here he created his masterpiece, the large-scale series of engravings after Michelangelo's fresco of the Last Judgment in the Sistine Chapel. Very good overall condition, Some light soiling visible, matted and framed under glass in period rosewood frames with gilt insets. Dimensions: 17 ½” h x 16” w, sight; 30 ½” h x 25” w, framed.
