A fine example of a 19th century polychrome carved wooden painted seated figure of Guanyin, an East Asian bodhisattva associated with compassion by the Mahayana Buddhists, also commonly called the Goddess of Mercy, although depicted both as female and male. Very good condition, with some minor imperfections, an old finger repair, paint fade and loss, shrinkage cracks and expected wear from age and use. Dimensions: 49" h x 28" w x 18" d.
