This wonderful impressionist cityscape with a pier and boats the foreground was painted by Chinese/Canadian/American artist David Wu Ject-Key (1890-1968). Ject-Key was born in Zhong-Shen, Guangdong and immigrated to Canada in 1902, studying at the Royal Academy of Arts in Montreal, as well as at Grand Central School of Art in New York and the Arts Students League. He became well known for the use of Western painting techniques his street scenes, landscapes and portrait painting. Oil on canvas, signed lower right, with inscribed title on verso “Pier 6,” along with a Spring 1967 Salmagundi Club Auction and Exhibition label, and housed in a decorative silver painted wooden frame. Dimensions: 18” h x 14” w, actual; 21 ½” h x 17 ½” w, framed.
