This nicely done oil of a Cape Ann Massachusetts coastal landscape with a church reflecting on the water was painted by American artist Alice Roney Hardwick (b. 1876). Hardwick was born in Chicago, Illinois and studied at the Arts Student League in New York under Birge Harrison, Frank Dumond, and Melbourne Hardwick, whom she eventually married. She became known for her landscapes and coastal views. She was a member of the Copley Society in Boston, the Springfield Art League, the American Federation of Art and the North Shore Art Association. Oil on panel, signed lower left, titled “Annisquam View,” on front plaque, and housed under glass in a giltwood frame. Dimensions: 16" h x 20" w, 27" h x 31" w, framed.
