This well done coastal marine landscape painting was done by American artist Reynolds Beal (1866-1951). Beal was born in New York City, studied painting at William Merritt Chase’s Shinnecock Summer School, and went on to become a prominent East Coast marine and landscape painter, eventually settling in Rockport, MA. Oil on canvas, signed lower left, titled “Low Tide” on front plaque, as well as on verso Clark Point Gallery, Southwest Harbor, ME label, and housed in a decorative giltwood frame. Dimensions: 16” h x 20” w, actual; 23 ½” h x 27 ½” w, framed. Provenance: An authentication letter from the artist’s niece is included.
