This beautiful Chinese bracket clock with rosewood case and stand has a 6 ½” diameter Roman numeral dial, pierced steel hands, sweep center seconds hand, brass dial surround with detailed chasing, a sliding front glass door, and rear sliding wooden doors. Chinese characters can be found above the dial on the clock face, as well as on the back of its Grand Sonnerie brass movement. A Grand Sonnerie movement refers to a form of quarter striking in which the hour last struck is also repeated at each hour. Clock dates to the late 18th or early 19th century and appears to be in good working condition, with minimal imperfections and light expected wear from age and use.
