This black lacquered stereo graphoscope, probably French, was used in mid to late 1800′s in parlors to entertain. Large round magnifying glass allows in detail view of photographs , tintypes, ambrotypes, cabinet cards and text, while the lower two circle glasses are for the viewing of stereoview cards. Cleverly folds into one small box. Notice the nice aesthetic movement hand carved details on the front. Very good overall condition, with minor imperfections, shrinkage splits, and expected wear from age and use. Some loss along the bottom front edge.
