This nice Connecticut landscape with a glimpse of water, possibly the Niantic River, in the background, was painted by American artist Frank Chester Perry (1859-1943). Perry was born in Swansea, Massachusetts, and became known as a marine and landscape painter, exhibiting in Boston and living in Westerly, Rhode Island. Oil on canvas, signed lower left, titled in graphite on verso stretcher “The Hillside, Waterford, Conn.,” and housed in a giltwood frame. Dimensions: 24” h x 18” w, actual; 29 ½” h x 23 ½” w, framed.
