This mid century modern abstract mounted metal wall sculpture was done by American artist Homer Gunn (20th century). Gunn was born in Woonsocket, Rhode Island. studied at the Rhode Island School of Design, and taught at Deerfield Academy in Deerfield, Massachusetts. His most well known and monumental work was the Greenfield War Memorial, a bronze sculpture created in 1965, located in the center of Greenfield Massachusetts. He has also created sculptures for the Boston Symphony Orchestra at Tanglewood, Massachusetts, and The Basketball Hall of Fame.
This sculpture is mounted to a wooden backboard, with incised signature on the center of the bottom border of the mounting board. One small piece of the sculpture (approximately 4 inches in length) has been detached, but is included. Dimensions: Overall 30” h x 80” w x 6” d.
