This beautiful oil painting portrait of a girl was done by American contemporary artist Mary Phillips (20th/21st century). Phillips lives in New Boston, New Hampshire and is an artist who works in a Renaissance style of oil painting. Her works evolve from conception of composition through initial value study drawings. The underpainting on canvas or linen is then produced, completed with final oil color and glazing. Her works consist largely of figures and portraits, as well as still life and landscape paintings, and she has exhibited her work at many New England exhibitions including the President’s Gallery at the Guild of Boston Artists Regional Painting Competition, and the Currier Museum of Art in NH. Oil on linen, monogrammed lower right “MP,” titled on verso stretcher “Turn Again To Life,” also inscribed on stretcher “Title of painting from a poem by Mary Hall, also titled “Turn Again To Life,” with a Guild of Boston Artists Exhibition label on verso as well, and housed in a complimenting decorative gilt frame. Dimensions: 11” h x 9” w, actual; 17 1/2” h x 15 ¾” w, framed.
