This patinated bronze sculpture of a woman figure titled “Peace” was done by Russian French artist Romain de Tirtoff. Erté was the pseudonym for Romain de Tirtoff (1892-1990). He was born in St. Petersburg, Russia, moved to Paris, and went on to New York, where he became well known for designing over 240 covers for Harper’s Bazaar Magazine, as well as other Art Deco designs, magazine illustrations, and sculptures. This bronze is titled “Peace,” signed Erté on the base, as well as stamped 155/500 and dated 1984. Excellent overall condition, with minimal imperfections and light expected wear from age and use. Dimensions: 26 ¼” h x 12” w x 5” d.
