This hand painted Dean Family of Boston armorial or family coat of arms most likely dates to the 18th century, possibly done by George Searle (1751-1796). Searle lived in the Massachusetts area and was a Colonial artist known for his heraldic designs. Watercolor and ink on paper, unsigned, and housed under glass in a black painted frame. Very good overall condition, with minor imperfections, yellowing, and expected wear from age and use. Dimensions: 13 ¾” h x 10” w, actual; 15 ⅝” h x 11 ¾” w, framed.
