This naive pastel portrait of a gentleman is unsigned, probably done by American artist Ruth Henshaw Miles Bascom (1772-1848). Bascom was born in Leicester, Massachusetts and went on to become well known for her life size naive pastel portrait paintings, as well as mixed media profile portraits and stitchery. Pastel on paper, matted under glass, and housed in a decorative giltwood frame. Dimensions: 14 ½” h x 11” w, sight; 24 ½” h x 20 ½” w, framed.
