A beautiful rare French Art Nouveau wood clad gilt copper box with bowed front and velvet interior, decorated with glass cabochons, signed and dated 1909 Paris by Alfred Daguet (1875-1942). Daguet was a French metalsmith who specialized in repoussé copper panels made for application to hinged boxes, mantel clocks, picture frames, album covers, and elements of desk sets. Very good overall condition, with minor imperfections, and wear to most of the gilding from age and use. Comes with its original key. Dimensions: 5 ½” h x 8 ¼” w x 5 ½” d.
