This rare beautiful matching twelve volume set of leather bound books by Ralph Waldo Emerson was published by Boston and New York, Houghton Mifflin and Company., Riverside Press, Cambridge, 1899. Three quarters leather fine bindings with marbled paper sides, top edge gilt, marbled endpapers. Very good condition set, with some corners and leather edges show some imperfections and minimal wear, some page dogears, and minimal yellowing. The set features the following: Essays First and Second Series ; Nature Addresses and Lectures; Letters and Social Aims; Society and Solitude; Poems; Representative Men; Miscellanies; English Traits; Lectures and Biographical Sketches; Conduct of Life; Natural History of Intellect. Copyright dates of the individual volumes range from 1855 to 1898. Each book dimension: 6 ¼” h x 4 ½” w.
